7/13/12 Recap

Last night at Yankee Stadium, New Jersey-grown phenom, Mike Trout, made is Yankee Stadium debut against New York's Hiroki Kuroda. Kuroda and Anehiem's C.J. Wilson traded 0's through 1 until an solo shot by Eric Ayabar in the 2nd. In the bottom of the inning, Mark Teixeira hit a 2-run blast to give the Bombers a 2-1 lead. It stayed this way until Trumbo hit a 3-run shot to make it 4-2 Angels. In the bottom of the 7th, the score 5-2, Tiexeira provided again with a 3-run bomb to tie the game. In the eighth, with Dwayne Wise on second, the struggling Russel Martin blooped an RBI single into right to score Wise as the Yankees take the victory 6-5, who are now 4-1 against the Angels at home this year.
In Atlanta, the Braves scored 5 runs in the first off of the Mets' Chris Young in for the injured Dillon Gee and took an early 5-0 lead. A power outage at Turner Field one inning later gave the game a 15-minute delay and the scored stayed the same until the 3rd when the Mets had a 4 spot with RBIs from Scott Hairston and Kirk Nieuwenhuis. Atlanta, however, would add insurance when "Mr. Met" Chipper Jones hit a solo shot to surpass Mike Schmidt for the 2nd-most RBI all-time by a 3rd baseman as the Braves held on 7-5.
