Harvey is here!

The Mets announced that Matt Harvey will be placed on the taxi squad Monday, activated Tuesday, and then start on Thursday in Arizona. Many fans, including me, have been anticipating this day for a long time. We all knew it was going to come soon, and our 23 year old prospect will finally make his debut. Harvey was the 7th overall pick back in the 2010 draft. Many fans thought he should have started yesterday for the team instead of Miguel Batista, but was not chosen by GM Sandy Alderson. Obviously, that might have been the wrong decision because Batista pitched 3 innings and was ineffective. He was later designated for assignment. It is clear that this Mets team has lost some confidence, but with their #2 prospect coming up, he might be able to provide a shot in the arm for this team. Harvey is 7-5 this year with a 3.68 ERA in AAA this year to go with 112 strikeouts in 110 innings pitched. Young players can always provide a spark to a struggling ball club, especially if they can perform well. Harvey along with Zack Wheeler are 2 pitching prospects that are looked at as future aces for this club and the 2 missing pieces that they need to make the playoffs. With Harvey getting the call and Wheeler not far away, it looks like the future is almost here for the Mets. These 2 guys are looked at as ace potential guys and are almost certainly going to be able to bring the Mets back to October and re-establish them as a very, very good team for the next decade.
