Johan

Johan Santana was placed on the DL with an ankle injury as his struggles continue as the Mets fall to the Dodgers. Ever since Johan threw that magical no-hitter, Johan has pitched like a pitcher who just came off huge shoulder surgery. It is obvious that he is tiring in the 2nd half.
He also looks like he has lost some confidence as he has been much less aggressive as the Mets would like. He has allowed 6 or more runs in 3 straight starts and looks like he is afraid to attack the strike zone.
Johan has made 8 starts since the no-hitter and in those games he is 3-5 with a 6.54 ERA. He threw 134 pitches in that no-hitter, which was a career high for him. Terry Collins gave him 2 extra days after the no-no, and he hasn't been the same since. After the no-hitter Johan's ERA was a microscopic 2.38, but it has skyrocketed to 3.98.
One things for sure, the Mets are going to need Johan to return to form if they are to stay in the race for a wild spot. With Johan now on the DL, it is most certainly time for Matt Harvey!
