Dillon Gee

Dillon Gee will have/has had surgery today to repair a damaged artery in his right shoulder, which is also his throwing shoulder. No timetable has been set but it is likely that he will be sidelined for the rest of the season. Gee is 6-7 this year for the Mets with a 4.10 ERA in 109.2 IP. Opponents are hitting .251 against him. The Mets called up LHP Josh Edgin from AAA Buffalo to replace Dillon on the roster and Miguel Batista is expected to replace him in the rotation. Terry Collins has not ruled out calling out one of several top pitching prospects Matt Harvey. Harvey, who is, 23 was drafted by the Mets 7th overall back in the 2010 draft. The Mets feel no need to rush him to the Majors, so it is not likely that he will be called up, but it could happen. If not this year, Matt will certainly be helping out this Mets ball club in the near future.
