Stars shine for Mets in must-win game

The Mets won today 9-5 against the first place Nationals in a game that they absolutely needed to have!  If they lost they would have fallen back to .500 for the 1st time in a very, very long time. They got huge performances from all stars RA Dickey and David Wright, as well as equally productive games from potential future all stars Ike Davis and Ruben Tejada. RA Dickey went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs but really pitched better than that stat line shows. He improved to an MLB best 13-1. Ike Davis went 2-4 with a homer and 2 RBI and Ruben Tejada went 2-5 with 1 RBI. The biggest and most important performance though came from de facto captain David Wright. David was 2-4 with two homers and 5 RBI. He is an absolute star! The Mets need to sign him long-term now. They cannot let him leave no matter the circumstance. He is no doubt a top 3 3rd basemen in baseball, which is a premier position. He is a fan favorite and amazing person and an even better player. Letting a player as important to the Mets franchise as he is would be crushing to an already diminishing fan base. Losing David Wright would wipe out half the fan base they still have. This team is fun to watch and they are beginning to get fans back, and letting Wright go would ruin it all. He is the main piece that this franchise is building around as they look towards the future. This team is only a few years away from a world series championship and letting Wright go would set them back 5-10 years. They must get him resigned by all means necessary!
